A Calgary general contractor who runs the whole job
Multi-trade projects fail in the hand-offs. Silverstone general contracting exists so you sign one contract, get one schedule and one accountable contact, and the trades answer to us instead of to your patience.

What Silverstone handles
One contract, every trade
General contracting is coordination as a trade: sequencing the framer, plumber, electrician and finishers so nobody waits on anybody, materials land before crews do, and the schedule survives contact with reality.
With 15+ years of combined experience across construction, renovations, roofing and exterior work, Silverstone quotes the whole project and answers for the whole project.
The cost of getting this wrong: self-managing trades sounds cheaper until the drywaller shows up before the electrician finishes, the schedule slips a month, and nobody owns the fix. The GC fee buys accountability, and accountability is what keeps budgets real.
- Multi-trade renovations. Projects touching structure, plumbing, electrical and finishes under one scope.
- Exterior packages. Roofing, siding, soffit, gutters and decks sequenced as one build.
- New-build finishing. Siding, exteriors and interior finishing for infills and townhome rows, like the projects in our gallery.
- Commercial storefronts. Exterior renovations for shops and small commercial buildings, cedar canopies to full re-clads.
- Property improvements. The odd-shaped projects that don’t fit one trade’s box.
- Permits and inspections. Work scoped to the approved drawings, inspections treated as checkpoints.
Options & project types
What we’re hired to run
If your project spans more than one trade, it fits here. These are the shapes we see most.
The whole-exterior job
Roof, siding, gutters and a deck, quoted by four companies with four schedules? One scope, one crew chain, one cleanup instead.
The multi-room renovation
Kitchen plus flooring plus paint, sequenced so the house stays livable and the trades stay out of each other’s way.
The infill / townhome finish
Builders bring us in for siding and finishing packages on rows and infills. Our van in the gallery is usually parked at one.
The commercial refresh
Storefront exteriors that need to look sharp without closing the business. Evening and staged scheduling included.
The insurance-scoped repair
Storm-damaged exteriors documented, scoped and rebuilt, with photos your insurer can actually use.
The "who even does this?" project
Odd structures, mixed scopes, stubborn fixes. Describe it on the quote form; if it’s not ours, we’ll say so and point you right.
What's included
How a GC project runs
- Scope conversation. What’s the outcome, budget range and timeline? Photos and a wishlist are the starting point.
- Written proposal. The whole project, itemized: trades, materials, sequence and price. Options broken out.
- Permits where required. Structural, electrical and plumbing work scoped to approved drawings.
- One schedule, published. You see the sequence. Trades are booked so nobody idles and nothing double-books.
- Changes in daylight. Anything found mid-job comes to you with photos and prices before work proceeds.
- Walkthrough and guarantee. Deficiencies cleared, paperwork handed over, workmanship guarantee in effect.
What this looks like when it's working
You make decisions, not phone calls. The project moves while you're at work, updates arrive without chasing, and the number at the end matches the proposal you signed at the start.
Residential and commercial
The gallery holds both: townhome rows mid-build and storefront renovations with cedar canopies. Same crew standard, different scale.

What does a general contractor cost in Calgary?
A GC's price is the project's price: trades, materials, coordination and accountability rolled into one written number. What you're really buying over self-managing is sequencing, negotiated trade pricing, and one accountable point of contact when something needs fixing.
Silverstone quotes the full scope rather than charging hourly coordination fees, so the proposal you sign is the budget you plan around. Changes only happen in writing, with photos, before work proceeds.
Describe the project on the free quote form, rough budget included. If the wishlist and the number don't fit, the proposal shows you the phased version.
- Trade count. Every additional trade adds sequencing and inspection points to manage.
- Structural scope. Moving walls and cutting roofs costs more than refinishing what exists.
- Finish level. The same floor plan finishes at very different numbers.
- Phasing. Splitting a big wishlist into stages spreads cost without redoing setup work.
Common concerns
Contracting questions we hear most
"Couldn't we manage trades ourselves?"
You can, and some do it well. It costs evenings, sequencing mistakes and no single point of accountability. If your project is one trade deep, you don't need us; three trades deep, the math changes.
"How do we know the price won't balloon?"
Because changes only happen through you: photos, options and prices before any extra work proceeds. The written proposal is the deal, and drift needs your signature.
"Do you take small projects?"
If it spans trades, yes. A bathroom that needs plumbing, tile and electrical is small but properly ours. Single-trade jobs go to the right service page and get quoted just the same.
Contracting FAQs
Quick answers
What does a general contractor actually do?
A general contractor owns the whole project: scoping, pricing, hiring and sequencing the trades, ordering materials, managing inspections and standing behind the finished work. You hold one contract instead of five, and one company answers for the result.
How much does a general contractor cost in Calgary?
The GC quote is the project quote: trades, materials and coordination in one written number. Silverstone prices the full scope up front rather than billing open-ended fees, and phases big projects when budgets need breathing room.
Do you handle both residential and commercial?
Yes. Homes, townhome rows and infill finishing on the residential side; storefront and small-building exterior renovations on the commercial side. The gallery shows both.
Who pulls the permits?
Where the project requires them, permit scope is built into the proposal and the work is done to the approved drawings. Inspections become checkpoints instead of surprises.
Can you work with our designer or architect?
Yes. Bring drawings and we build to them, flagging buildability and budget issues before they become site problems.
What if we only have a rough idea?
That's a normal starting point. Describe the outcome and budget range on the quote form; the assessment and written proposal turn the idea into a scope you can approve or adjust.
Can projects be phased?
Yes, and often should be. The proposal can split the wishlist into stages so the essential work lands now and the rest lands when the budget does.
