Gutters, soffit & fascia built for chinook melts

Calgary's freeze-melt-freeze winters are a stress test for rooflines. Silverstone installs and repairs gutters, downspouts, soffit and fascia that move sudden meltwater away from your foundation instead of into it.

Silverstone Reno & Construction installs and repairs gutters, downspouts, soffit and fascia across Calgary, sized and sloped for chinook meltwater. Roofline quotes are free, start from photos, and the work carries a workmanship guarantee alongside the company's roofing and siding services.

What Silverstone handles

The roofline, finished properly

Gutters, soffit and fascia are one system. The fascia carries the gutter, the soffit breathes for the attic, and the downspouts decide where every litre of melt ends up.

Because Silverstone also does roofing and siding, the roofline gets treated as part of the exterior, not an afterthought bolted on by a third contractor.

The cost of getting this wrong: a clogged or undersized gutter overflows at the foundation, and in winter it builds ice that pries fascia loose. Blocked soffits suffocate attic ventilation, which shortens the roof above them. Small parts, expensive failures.

  • Gutter installation. Continuous runs sized and sloped for the roof feeding them, hung on solid fascia.
  • Downspouts and drainage. Placed and extended so water leaves the foundation zone instead of pooling against it.
  • Soffit. Vented aluminum and wood-grain profiles that keep attic airflow moving.
  • Fascia. Capped or replaced straight, because everything else on the roofline hangs off it.
  • Repairs. Sagging runs, separated seams, ice damage and leaks fixed without a hard sell on replacement.
  • Roofline packages. Gutters, soffit and fascia with a re-roof or re-side, one schedule, one crew.

Options & project types

Common roofline projects

Tell the quote form what the roofline is doing wrong, and the proposal maps the fix. These are the jobs we see most.

New install with a re-roof

The natural moment: old gutters come down with the shingles, new ones go up on fresh drip edge. Cleanest result, lowest combined cost.

Replacement runs

When seams drip and slopes sag, new continuous runs beat patching. Sized to the roof area, not just swapped like-for-like.

Soffit & fascia refresh

Peeling fascia and stained soffit age a house instantly. New aluminum, straight lines, and attic vents that actually vent.

Ice and overflow fixes

Where winter builds icicles or summer storms overshoot the run, we look at slope, size and downspout placement rather than blaming the weather.

Wood-grain soffit features

The warm ceiling look under balconies and entries, like the install in our gallery. Cedar tone without cedar maintenance.

Cleaning & maintenance

What's included

How roofline work runs

  • Photos start it. Eave photos and roof context are usually enough to scope and price.
  • Written proposal. Runs, downspouts, soffit and fascia itemized with the price in writing.
  • Fascia first. Anything soft or loose gets fixed before new gutters hang on it.
  • Slope and size. Runs pitched to drain and sized to the roof area feeding them.
  • Downspouts placed to purpose. Extensions and splash control so water leaves the foundation zone.
  • Cleanup and walkthrough. Offcuts gone, flow explained, guarantee in effect.

What this looks like when it's working

Storms drain quietly. No sheeting over the front step, no winter icicle fangs, no trench forming along the foundation. The roofline reads as one clean line from the curb.

Workmanship guarantee Written proposal One point of contact

One trade short of a full exterior

Rooflines pair naturally with roofing and siding. Bundling saves mobilization costs and keeps one crew accountable for the whole envelope.

Budget honesty

What do new gutters cost in Calgary?

Gutter pricing follows the length of the runs, the height of the eaves, how many downspouts the layout needs, and whether fascia repairs come first. Soffit and fascia add by the linear foot, and bundling them with gutters costs less than doing each separately.

Winter behaviour matters more than brochure specs here. Chinook cycles mean meltwater arrives suddenly; slope, size and downspout placement decide whether it leaves politely.

Photos of your eaves through the free quote form get the written proposal moving the same week.

  • Run length and height. Longer eaves and taller walls take more material and more ladder time.
  • Downspout count. Enough drops in the right places is the difference between draining and overflowing.
  • Fascia condition. Soft fascia gets fixed before anything hangs on it, and it shows as its own line.
  • Bundling. Gutters with soffit-fascia, or with a re-roof, shares setup costs across the scope.

Common concerns

Gutter and roofline questions we hear most

"Do gutter guards work here?"

They cut cleaning frequency but don't eliminate it, and cheap ones make ice worse. We'll give you a straight recommendation for your trees and exposure rather than a blanket yes.

"Why do my gutters grow icicles?"

Usually attic heat escaping plus melt refreezing at the cold edge. Sometimes it's a soffit ventilation problem more than a gutter problem, which is why we look at the roofline as a system.

"Can you just fix the sagging run?"

Yes. Re-hanging and re-sloping a good run is a legitimate repair. We only recommend replacement when seams and metal are actually done.

Gutter FAQs

Quick answers

How much does gutter installation cost in Calgary?

Run length, eave height, downspout count and fascia condition set the price. Silverstone quotes rooflines free from photos and itemizes every piece in the written proposal so you see where the money goes.

What size gutters do Calgary homes need?

It depends on the roof area draining into each run. Bigger roofs and steep pitches shed more water faster, so we size runs and downspouts to the roof above them rather than defaulting to the smallest profile.

Do you repair gutters or only replace?

Both. Sagging runs get re-hung, seams get resealed, and damaged sections get replaced. Full replacement gets recommended only when repairs would just delay the same bill.

What is soffit and why does it matter?

Soffit is the underside of the roof overhang. Vented soffit feeds the attic the airflow it needs; blocked or damaged soffit traps heat and moisture, which shortens shingle life above it.

Can gutters go up with a new roof?

Yes, and that's the ideal sequence: fascia and drip edge get done with the roof, and new gutters hang on a clean line. One schedule, better result, shared costs.

How often should gutters be cleaned?

At least yearly for most Calgary homes, twice under mature trees. Cleaning lives on our property services page and pairs well with a house wash.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes. Eave and downspout photos plus the home's rough footprint usually price a roofline without a site visit first.
